Licensed Clinical social Worker Services, a pllc

Welcome.

My name is Alex Quintanilla. I have been providing mental health services since obtaining my Masters in Social Welfare From the University of California Berkeley in 2014. My practice is based in Champaign Illinois and I provide services in English and Spanish.

My goal as a therapist is to improve the mental health of people who are having a difficult time coping with life’s challenges and are motivated to make some changes in their lives.

My approach aims to provide support by creating a space where you can reflect on how your life is going and to think about the constructive changes you want to see happen in your life.

My process helps you identify these changes, utilizes your strengths to make them happen, while providing some skills that can help you in your journey.

As a clinician I am person centered, solution-focused, and skills-based.

The Art of Seeing and Changing

Student life, working life, and personal lives bring a series of challenges. How we respond to these challenges can mean the difference of feeling a sense of accomplishment and hope for the future or a sense of disappointment and dread for what is around the corner

Common issues addressed in therapy include anxiety, depression, trauma, transitions in life, identity development, career exploration, relationship issues, work stress, and academic stress.

I use a range approaches that are tailored specifically for the needs of the person.  I teach skills that help bring the mind to the present, help you understand the approach you are taking in your life, and help you build insight over what makes sense to keep, what to adapt, and what to change. I focus on the relationships that matter by exploring communication patters within friendships, romantic relationships, work relationships, and family relationships.

Therapy involves assessment, treatment planning, treatment, and closure. Each session lasts approximately 50 minutes.  I work towards creating comprehensive plan that makes sense for what you are looking for and adapt to suit your needs.

The Art of Connection and Trust.

I work to strengthen the relationship between the child and those who care and love them. I utilize attachment focused interventions that aim to address the effects of trauma, stress, and other adversities on a young child’s mental health and development. My goal is to help caregivers and children build stronger, more nurturing relationships by increasing their understanding of each other’s thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.

I work with both the child and the caregiver in joint sessions to promote positive interactions and communication, address any negative interactions or misunderstandings, and support the caregiver’s ability to provide responsive care. I work with the caregivers to provide support to the parents to meet the challenges of caregiving and life. I work with the child to teach skills that will help them regulate when they face the challenges of childhood.

Overall, my aim is to strengthen the bond between the child and caregiver, promote healthy emotional development, and improve the child’s mental health outcomes by addressing the impact of adverse experiences on the parent-child relationship.

Therapy involves assessment, treatment planning, treatment, and closure. Each session lasts approximately 50 minutes. The therapy sessions often involve activities such as play, drawing, and storytelling to help the child and caregiver communicate and express their emotions. I use techniques such as reflective listening, empathic responding, and promoting affective attunement to support the caregiver’s ability to attune to their child’s emotional needs and provide loving responses.
